Movement said,
"Our Party Purification Movement was found necessary chiefly on the discovery of the intrigues the Communists had devised to destroy our Kuomintang. In their intrigues the Communists first wanted to stir up dissension among the members of our Kuomintang by a distinction into Leftists and Rightists, and secondly to mislead the two large classes of workmen and peasants into trusting them- selves to their management. When we were setting out on our Northern Expedition, they denied that the opportunity was ripe for the purpose, and when we had penetrated
